PIA plane clips wing of Air France aircraft at Pearson airport

TORONTO: The wing of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight collided with the wing of an Air France aircraft at Pearson International Airport while taxiing on Tuesday night.

The incident took place at 6 p.m. ET, according to Natalie Moncur, a spokeswoman for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.

The Air France plane was parked at a gate at Terminal 3 as the PIA aircraft taxied towards a gate nearby, Moncur said.

29 Pakistani Hajj pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: A total of 29 intending pilgrims of Pakistan have so far died natural death in Saudi Arabia during Hajj 2016, Director General Hajj Sajid Yousfani said.

Briefing Hajj Advisory Committee (HAC) in Makkah Mukarma, he said the contingent of 1635 muavineen and 432 medical mission has been deployed in Saudi Arabia to serve intending pilgrims.

He said a total of 30 Maktab have been set up for Pakistan pilgrims this year.

Video of film actress Nisha Malik, who committed suicide, goes viral


LAHORE: A video has gone viral on social media in which Pakistan newbie film actress Nisha Malik, who committed suicide last week, can be seen enjoying light moments with her brother.

Nisha, whose debut film was slated to be released on Eid ul Azha, was found dead in mysterious circumstances at her Lahore’s residence on Saturday, police said.

According to her family, Nisha Malik committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan.

Federal government announces Eid ul Azha holidays

ISLAMABAD: The federal government Monday announced a three-day holiday on account of Eid ul Azha falling on September 13.

According to a notification issued on Monday, the interior ministry said that all public and private offices would remain closed from September  12 to 14 for the religious holiday and it means people will return to work on the third day of Eid on Thursday.

PTI power show in Karachi today

PTI is all set for its political power show today in Karachi where Imran Khan is expected to address thousands of his PTI supporters, Samaa reported.

Imran Khan said “I invite every community in Karachi to join him for his “Pakistan Zindabad” jalsa. It will be a show of solidarity against all those who chant anti Pakistan slogans and who steal money from Pakistan and take it to their treasure troves stashed abroad,”

He arrived at Nishtar Park, Karachi, to review the rally arrangements. The PTI chief will address the rally tonight.



Woman, lover murder sister, sister-in-law for rejecting proposal

KARACHI: A woman, along with her lover, murdered her elder sister and sister-in-law after they refused his marriage proposal in Karachi’s Orangi Town in the wee hours of Monday morning, Samaa reported.

According to police officials, Sumbul and Sadaf, both aged between 30 and 35 years of age, were murdered by Faheema and Anees for rejecting Anees’s proposal, creating obstacles in the marriage of the two.

The bodies were found at their residential apartment in Orangi Town’s Sector 14, near the Shah Faisal Chowk.


Aamir Liaquat Hussain denies rejoining MQM

KARACHI: Religious scholar Aamir Liaquat Hussain has rejected the claim made by MQM member of the National Assembly (MNA) Ali Raza Abidi that the former wants to rejoin the party.

He also denied that he was running a campaign “MQM needs Aamir Liaquat Hussain” on social media.

His denial comes after Ali Raza Abidi, while speaking at Samaa’s programme “Tasveer”, claimed that the religious leader wants to rejoin the party.

Hussain said that the MQM’s MNA should ask about his rejoining from his new party chief, referring to Dr. Farooq Sattar.
